Aerial Derby 1913
100 years ago, the Second Aerial Derby was held at Hendon. The race, round London, was won by Gustav Hamel on an 80 h.p. Morane-Saulnier monoplane at an average speed of 75 m.p.h. – up from 58.5 m.p.h. the year before. The Royal Aero Club Collection includes an original souvenir programme from the event (above), among several other programmes from 1913 in the Collection (below).
