RAeC Collection "Showcase" (1)
The Trustees of the Royal Aero Club Trust are pleased to announce further enhancements to this web-site. Effective immediately, a new “Showcase” feature has been added, which can be accessed through the left hand menu on all the main pages. The purpose of the “Showcase” is to make available the images from a number of important photograph albums and other historic documents from the Collection. The first one is an album of photographs made by or for Gustav Hamel (25 June 1889 – missing 23 May 1914). He was awarded Aviator’s Certificate number 64 by the Royal Aero Club on 14 February 1911, but his short but brilliant flying career was tragically cut short 40 months later when he disappeared over the English Channel while returning from Paris in a new 80 h.p. Morane-Saulnier monoplane he had just collected.
